Whanganui based artist David Traub has been working in glass for the past 40 years. Traub specialises in the beautiful, delicate, yet bold and striking art of glass. He is represented in public and private collections in America, Europe, South America, Asia, Australia and New Zealand
The Platters are a series of works that David started in 2002. They evolved during that time both in shape and scale and continue to be an ongoing body of work. Traub see the platters as 3d canvases, through which he has explored an eclectic body of source material; from the colour field painters like Morris Louis to quilts and quilt makers and looking at the history of mosaic work. Each piece is a unique, made using the fusing and slumping processes.
