Danny Moorwood Lustre Bowl

I began making pots in the mid 70's after returning to Auckland, having spent 5 years in the U.K.and some time in Sydney. The interest in " Handmade " was in full swing in Australia, and New Zealand was following a similar trend.
Principal Auckland outlets in those days were New Vision Gallery run by Tina Hos and Peter Sinclair's Ali Cat.

I moved to rural Otago in 1978 where I worked until 1988 when I shifted the studio to Dunedin, with a year at The Meat Market Arts Centre in Melbourne in between. The Meat Market was an outstanding asset to the Melbourne craft scene.Studio spaces for glass blowers, potters, metal smiths, textile artists and included an exhibition gallery, a retail outlet and a cafe /bar. Sadly now gone..

After 10 years of running a Studio / Gallery in Stuart St.and then around the corner in Castle St. opposite the Railway Station, I have moved my studio to my home in Opoho, a suburb of Dunedin. Lack of space prevents me from keeping a gallery of work at home, but if you contact me, I can possibly direct you to a gallery near you that stocks my work.

Lustre glazes are my current interest and I have been working on these for a number of years. The possibilities for surface texture and colour through the process of multi firing is vast. However, other styles of work also occupy my time. Priority being good form with simple but effective decoration. .
I am always pleased to hear from Potters where ever they may be situated, who may want to exchange information, or just make contact with someone in another part of the world.
